This is our commitment to always give our best, so that survivors can rise and recover after being impacted by the disasterSukabumi, West Java (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) is committed to providing services to Cianjur earthquake survivors to facilitate their recovery as soon as possible.
"PMI continues to provide services to earthquake survivors in Cianjur until the rehabilitation or recovery period (ends). This is our commitment to always give our best, so that survivors can rise and recover after being impacted by the disaster," PMI Chairperson Jusuf Kalla remarked while commemorating PMI Volunteer Day, Monday.
According to Kalla, who was the former vice president, PMI volunteers have conducted various services since the first day of the earthquake disaster, or from Monday (November 21) until now. The services include evacuation, health checks, helping victims to reconnect with their families, and distributing assistance.
In the recovery and reconstruction period, the PMI focuses on building temporary housing for earthquake victims, who lost their houses, and providing sanitation facilities, clean water, food packages, and non-cash assistance (BNT).

In addition, the PMI is committed to assisting the government in accelerating the recovery of earthquake survivors in Cianjur District. Until now, the PMI has reached 53 villages in 11 affected sub-districts and built 856 emergency and temporary shelters.
"For humanity, the PMI always arrives the earliest and returns the latest. This is our commitment to monitoring recovery," Kalla added.
Although the disaster emergency response status in Cianjur has been lifted, there are still several survivors living in evacuation camps.

Hence, the PMI will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to affected victims, both those still staying in camps and those having returned home.
As the volunteers' activities increase along with the demanded services, Kalla reminded volunteers to keep working and serving the community professionally.
On the commemoration of PMI Volunteer Day, the PMI distributed BNT and food packages to 50 families affected by the earthquake, in addition to organizing health checks at six location points, with the target of one thousand beneficiaries.
