We expect that it will become a beautiful residential complex, which I see is definitely much better than the old oneJakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and First Lady Iriana Jokowi on Thursday reviewed and inaugurated a permanent residence for victims of tropical cyclone Seroja in Tambe Village, Bolo Sub-district, Bima District, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province.
The head of state expected that the residence would become a more comfortable and better place to live for everyone.
"We expect that it will become a beautiful residential complex, which I see is definitely much better than the old one," Jokowi stated in a video uploaded on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube account on Thursday.
The head of state remarked that the government had built the place for relocation purposes following the tropical cyclone that hit the region in April 2021 and damaged many houses.
The residential area was built at a new location away from the riverbanks. There were 185 houses in Bima Regency and 107 houses in Dompu District, all of which are ready to be inhabited.
On the same occasion, he also gave out certificates of land ownership to beneficiaries of the permanent housing. The residence had been equipped with various public facilities that can support people's everyday activities, he remarked.
"With the public facilities that you have also seen, there is a mosque, Alhamdulillah, and there are other public facilities," he pointed out.
On a separate occasion, the Director General of Housing at the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry, Iwan Suprijanto, stated that the construction adopted a simple healthy instant housing technology (RISHA) type 36, and it was built on an area of 108 square meters.
Construction began in May 2021 and will be completed in March 2022, with the total cost of the project reaching Rp57.3 billion.
"People have lived here since the beginning of 2022, and we expect that this effort can lift up those who were affected, so they can live in a safer and more appropriate place," he remarked.
