Pekanbaru, Riau (ANTARA) - More than four thousand personnel from the National Defense Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) will secure President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi’s) working visit to Riau from January 4–5, 2023.

"We will maximize (the security) to cover the risk gap," Commander of the Provincial Military Command 031/Wira Bima, Brigadier General Parlindungan Hutagalung, said after a security routine here on Tuesday.

More than four thousand personnel will be deployed because Jokowi is scheduled to visit several places.

In addition to the security routine on Tuesday, security officials also held a security simulation on the route that President Jokowi and his entourage will take.

As the President is a Very Very Important Person (VVIP), he will be protected by a three-layer security ring, comprising Ring 1, Ring 2, and Ring 3.

Ring 1 will be secured by the Presidential Security Forces, who are responsible for protecting the President.

"Ring 2 and Ring 3 will be secured by regional units, the National Police, and the local government," Hutagalung informed.

Jokowi is scheduled to arrive at Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force Base in Pekanbaru on Wednesday, he said. Then, he will visit Bawah Market in Pekanbaru and join watermelon harvesting activities.

The President will also visit the main stadium and inaugurate the Pekanbaru-Bangkinang Toll Road.

On Thursday, the President will visit Rokan Hilir district to review the Durolis Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) and several places in Dumai.

Meanwhile, the Pekanbaru city government said that it is ready to welcome the President to the capital of Riau province.

"We are ready to welcome President Jokowi," acting mayor of Pekanbaru, Muflihun, said on Monday (January 2).

During his visit to the market, Jokowi will hand over assistance to some traders. Muflihun has ordered the Industry and Trade Office to record the data of traders receiving the assistance.
