Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reviewed mangrove seedlings at the Ngurah Rai Grand Forest Park (Tahura), Denpasar City, Bali Province, on Wednesday, before welcoming the 2022 G20 Summit delegates.

The head of state arrived at the forest, which would become a mangrove conservation showcase to the G20 delegates, at 08:45 a.m. Central Indonesia Standard Time (WITA), wearing a white polo shirt with the G20 logo.

While waiting for the arrival of heads of states and international institution representatives, he invited journalists at the site to undertake a tour of the forest and told them about the mangrove conservation area.

They walked down the forest and visited the mangrove seedling nursery area where there were around six million seedlings.

After touring the area for over 20 minutes, the Indonesian president ended the reviewing activity and returned to the Wantilan Pavilion, which was the lounge and the guest receiving area.

At the location, he was keen to demonstrate Indonesia's commitment to international delegates in maintaining the sustainability of tropical and mangrove forests.

During the activity, he was accompanied by Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar, as well as Governor of Bali I Wayan Koster.

Head of the Office of the Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) of Tahura Ngurah Rai I Ketut Subandi said that the G20 delegation could bring home as many mangrove seeds as they want.

"As long as they can bring them (the seeds), they will be facilitated," he said.

Subandi noted that on Tuesday (November 15, 2022), the delegation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) had also visited the 1,373.5-hectare forest and brought home 10 seeds.

The state guests were scheduled to attend the side event of the G20 Summit at Tahura Ngurah Rai from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. WITA before heading for the third working session of the summit at The Apurva Kempinski, Badung District, Bali Province.

Indonesia hosted the G20 Summit on November 15-16, 2022.
