Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) has pushed for the issuance of derivative regulations of the sexual violence crime law (UU TPKS).

"I think the acceleration of derivative products of UU TPKS becomes homework, so that the victims and people, who provide protection can receive guarantees," KPAI Deputy Chairperson Jasra Putra stated here on Monday.

Putra said, Henny, a woman currently providing care to a 12-year-old girl, who is a victim of a sex crime and is currently eight months pregnant in Binjai City, North Sumatra, must receive guarantee from the state.

He further noted that the state has a support scheme for people or institutions that provide recovery services for children, who are victims of sex crimes.

"It is just that the derivative products of UU TPKS must be expedited, so that more people will help victims, especially victims, who are far from services, like what Henny did," he remarked.

The commission lauds Henny's move to take care of the child.

"In this case, her (the victim's) parents cannot handle it and expects Henny can help her (the victim)," he explained.

He further noted that Henny's presence could have a calming effect on the victim and her parents.

"I think this is a service that the victim really needs," he stated.

The KPAI understands the need for more people to come forward to support the recovery of child victims of sex crimes.

"I think there should be more people like Henny, especially in this case where the crime scene is on the outskirts of a plantation (area), where access to resources that support recovery is not easy to find," he remarked.

He noted that the efforts made by Henny could help the state in its efforts to provide child protection, especially special protection for children.
