So far, 96.2 percent of the assistance allocated for the 150 RSUDs have been disbursed.Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Health Ministry disbursed financial assistance to 150 regional general hospitals (RSUD) and 25 central general hospitals (RSUP) to improve services for treating catastrophic illness, such as heart disease, stroke, kidney injury, and cancer.
The financial aid was utilized to provide priority medical devices to support the treatment of diseases.
"At the end of the previous year (2022), we readied Rp3.55 trillion (US$235 million) to meet the needs for medical devices at regional hospitals. So far, 96.2 percent of the assistance allocated for the 150 RSUDs have been disbursed," spokesperson of the Health Ministry Mohammad Syahril stated here on Tuesday.
In addition to the RSUD and RSUPs, the government provided funding assistance to support the provision of medical devices in several vertical hospitals that had been completely distributed, he stated.
His side is gradually facilitating 50 percent of all district and city RSUDs to have complete medical equipment to treat cardiovascular disease, stroke, kidney injury, and cancer patients.
The medical devices for treating heart disease and stroke patients include Echocardiography, Computerized Tomography (CT)-Scan, Cath Lab, surgery room set, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Rotablator, and Intravascular Ultrasound-Fractional Flow Reserve (IVUS-FFR).
Furthermore, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Neuro Microscope, Heart Lung Machine, and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) device are needed to treat heart disease and stroke patients.
Meanwhile, the treatment of cancer patients requires mammography, Single-photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT), Flow cytometer, ImmunoHistoChemistry (IHC) device, Bronchoscopy, Brachytherapy, as well as Cavitron Ultrasonic Surgical Aspirator (CUSA).
In addition, linear accelerator (LINAC), Positron emission tomography (PET)-CT, as well as CT Simulator are needed for the treatment of cancer patients.
Meanwhile, the instruments used to treat kidney injury patients comprise Endourology Set, Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL), Doppler Ultrasound, Urodynamic Video, Holmium Laser, Automated Peritoneal Dialysis, and Percutaneous Nephrolithonomy (PCNL) device.
The treatment of kidney injury also requires Ureteroscopy (URS) tools, Tissue Typing tools, as well as complementary and alternative medicines (C-Am).
The ministry had received support from 24 governors to develop RSUDs in the respective provinces to become the catastrophic disease referral service network.
In addition to providing devices for the treatment of catastrophic illness, the government will ready medical instruments for maternal and child health services at various healthcare facilities.
Medical devices required to support maternal and child health services include anaesthesia machines, Patient Monitors, ventilators, Fetomaternal Ultrasound, baby incubators, Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption - Ionisation-Time of flight (MALDI-Tofs), as well as Laser Ablation.
The implementation of maternal and child health services also needs High-frequency Oscillatory Ventilation (HFOV), Nitrite Oxide Machines, High Flow Oxygen Therapy (HFOT) device, and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC).
