Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) and the ANTARA News Agency have strengthened cooperation in strategic communication through the utilization of the agency's network at the regional and global levels.

"Today's meeting is to coordinate communication strategies that can be built together between the government and the media, especially with ANTARA, which is a news agency that has a wide communication network both at the regional and global levels," Governor of Lemhannas Andi Widjajanto said here on Tuesday.

At the ANTARA headquarters in Jakarta, Widjajanto was welcomed by president director of ANTARA News Agency Meidyatama Suryodiningrat.

The Lemhannas has a duty to provide studies on strategic matters to the President, Widjajanto noted. He said he sees the need for mitigation in many issues, especially the risk of the 2023 global crisis.

"Therefore, we interact with the ANTARA News Agency to strengthen coordination, so that we can jointly offer a proposal of communication strategy (to be used) when the government issues policies, especially those related to risk mitigation in 2023," he added.

During the meeting, Suryodiningrat highlighted that external coordination and communication are often the biggest challenges to conveying government policies.

"The era of social media and society that is growing itself with their respective echo chambers are difficult to break in, but can actually be overcome with coordination and communication," he added.

Furthermore, Suryodiningrat said that ANTARA, as a national news agency, has enormous potential, but it is still not used enough.

Widjajanto informed that in addition to coordination and communication, there is another important aspect, which is trust in the media in conveying government policies.

He expressed the hope that ANTARA will serve as a beacon in the 2023 global situation that is projected to become darker.

"If the President says 2023 is dark, (I hope) ANTARA can be the flashlight," he remarked.

The meeting was attended by several ANTARA executive editors and officials from Lemhannas.
