Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Wododo has lauded the efforts made by the Jembrana district government in Bali to develop woven and songket fabrics in the area.

"I really appreciate what the district head has done, supported by the governor of Bali, in developing woven and songket (fabrics),” President Widodo said during his first visit to Jembrana District on Thursday evening.

These efforts could encourage the development of the creative industry, especially the handmade industry, he added.

This development is supported by a governor's regulation, which urges government employees, private employees, the community, and local school students to wear Balinese traditional cloth every Tuesday and traditional clothing every Thursday.

"This will encourage creative industries based on local culture. I really appreciate this," Widodo said.

He also expressed his gratitude for the appreciation and the welcome he received from the residents in Jembrana, which he was visiting for the first time as president.
