Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) greeted people and gave away one bike at East Batuphat Market, Lhokseumawe City, Aceh, on Friday.

According to a statement released by the Presidential Secretariat's bureau of press, media, and information, upon his arrival at the market, President Jokowi was greeted enthusiastically by everyone, children and merchants alike.

“Mr. Jokowi, Mr. Jokowi," some kids holding red and white flags in their hands called out.

Hearing his name, the President approached the kids. Al Qusyairi, a fifth grader, expressed his happiness over getting the President's autograph and receiving a book from him.

"Happy, (I got) book," he said.

While the President was reviewing the prices of staple goods in the market, a man named Afrizal Poan asked him for a bike.

He said that he had been trying to get the President’s attention ever since his arrival on the road in front of the market.

"From the roadside since some time ago, already shouted that I want a bike, I want a bike," Poan said.

In response, the President asked him a question.

“(He asked me to) Mention some names of fish," Poan said, reiterating what the President said.

He further said that he was very happy to get a bike from President Jokowi and informed that he will use the bike to work out.

"To work out, for a relaxed stroll, right," he remarked.

Besides reviewing the prices of commodities in East Batuphat Market, the President also purchased some items. He opined that the prices in the market were good.

"When I go to a market, I and the governor and the mayor always check for prices, follow up on inflation, check about goods and services because those are important, and I see those are good here," he said.

President Jokowi also distributed some cash aid and staple goods in the market.
