Bandung, West Java (ANTARA) - The stunting handling application developed by the Sumedang District Government, named Integrated Stunting Handling Information System (e-Simpati), is being trialed in 50 districts and cities, according to Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin.

He noted that the 50 districts and cities are regions where stunting prevalence is relatively high.

"The application owned by Sumedang District is the best and is an excellent digital platform. I asked for permission from the district head yesterday," he said in Sumedang District, West Java, on Friday (February 10).

Speaking in connection with stunting in the country, Sadikin stated that currently, the central government is in the process of improving One Data Indonesia through which the government could have definite data.

"Including in the Health Ministry itself, we have the One Health Data, and we want to make the data definite," he affirmed.

To this end, the minister expressed appreciation for the e-Simpati application, which is a form of commitment to stunting handling. Apart from that, the application is also useful to be adopted by other regions.

"Thus, I wanted to visit and directly see what Sumedang District is doing and to help regarding what Sumedang needs for stunting rate reduction," the minister stated.

President Joko Widodo had instructed Sumedang District Head Dony Ahmad Munir to visit districts and cities in Indonesia to share his region's success in handling stunting through the Electronic-Based Governance System (SPBE).

"I appreciate what has been done by Sumedang District, which has utilized the technology platform to monitor stunting," the president said at the National Regional Heads' Meeting in Bogor District, West Java, on January 17, 2023.

Indonesia's stunting prevalence in 2022 declined by 2.8 percentage points to 21.6 percent, from 24.4 percent in 2021, based on the 2022 SSGI survey of 334,848 samples comprising babies and under-five children.

The Indonesian government aims to reduce stunting prevalence to 17.8 percent this year and 14 percent in 2024.
