Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry commended the "artina-Sarinah #2" contemporary art exhibition that puts the spotlight on artists' work from varied fields.

"It is the second exhibition of artina, and I see there is an improvement, not only in the visual arts but also in film and fashion arts," Director General of Culture at the Ministry, Hilmar Farid, told ANTARA after the exhibition opening, here on Friday (March 3).

He said that the exhibition signifies that Indonesian arts can correlate with one another without boundaries.

The artina-Sarinah #2 exhibition showcases the same spirit of unity in diversity through different dimensions, according to him.

He believes that this exhibition "depicts the same core even though it is viewed from different points of view."

"It is a kind of enlightenment, a tremendous contribution to advance culture. It is expected that this can stimulate other artists' expressions in the future," he explained.

The artina-Sarinah #2 contemporary art exhibition carries the theme of matrajiva, or soul dimensions, which represents dimensions of spirituality and religiosity in Indonesian society and life.

The theme was inspired by the archipelago's cultural diversity that is replete with spiritual values.

This exhibition is being held from March 4 to May 31, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time. The event offers several programs, such as curatorial tours, talk shows presenting artists, and workshops.

On the same occasion, Farid held a discussion with some artists about the Cultural Endowment Fund's (DAK's) distribution in 2023 that is estimated to reach Rp5 trillion, or around US$327 million.

"We had a conversation about that earlier. The fund has been distributed and will be added to the amount of Rp5 trillion. The amount is managed every year and is open to all initiatives, especially the very significant ones," he explained.
