The Pentahelix approach must be strengthened in the partnership network
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) is conducting a Partnership Technical Coordination Meeting to optimize the role of partners in implementing the Proud Kencana Program and expediting the reduction in stunting rates.

"The BKKBN Partnership Coordination Meeting is a meeting forum to raise joint commitments between BKKBN and partners. We want to strengthen the Bangga Kencana Program (Family Development, Population, and Family Planning) and efforts to accelerate stunting reduction," BKKBN's Deputy for Advocacy, Mobilization, and Information, Sukaryo Teguh Santoso, noted at the coordination meeting in Jakarta, Tuesday.

At the coordination meeting held on March 7-8 2023, Santoso stated that the results of the 2023 coordination meeting would be followed up in action plans to be implemented in each region.

Santoso remarked that the 2023 coordination meeting brought up the theme of "Synergized Implementation of the Proud Kencana Program Activities and Accelerating the Reduction of Stunting with Partners."

In addition, the event was focused on increasing the coverage of assistance for families at risk of stunting and increasing the nutritional needs of children at risk of stunting through the Foster Father and Mother for Stunting Children (BAAS) Program, he noted.

"Through this coordination meeting, we will also optimize the utilization of health facilities in family planning and health services as well as optimize integrated health post (posyandu) for toddler growth and development interventions," Santoso remarked.

He affirmed that this activity is a follow-up to President Joko Widodo's directive to BKKBN on January 25 as the Leader for the Acceleration of Stunting Reduction Program in Indonesia.

The coordinating meeting was also based on Presidential Regulation Number 72 of 2021 concerning Accelerating the Reduction of Stunting.

Santoso is upbeat that all partners attending the coordination meeting would strengthen collaboration and cooperation across sectors and various elements involved in accelerating the reduction of stunting, starting from the government, community, business world, and academia, to the mass media.

Thus, the stunting rate, which is currently still at 21.6 percent, can be reduced according to the target of 14 percent in 2024, he noted.

“The Pentahelix approach must be strengthened in the partnership network. This is very important to ensure the success of the two programs," he noted.

Attendees at the event comprised Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Head of BKKBN Hasto Wardoyo, representatives from the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI), National Police (Polri), community organizations, business world, all representatives of the Provincial BKKBN, Regional Family Planning Organizations (OPDKB) from 514 districts and cities, Indonesian Midwives Association, and the Family Welfare Development (PKK) Mobilizing Team.
