Jakarta (ANTARA) - Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Minister Nadiem Makarim has said he is optimistic that the ecosystem of Indonesian children's songs will become stronger.

"With the strengthening of the management of talents, children's song quality improvement, and expansion of the utilization of children's songs, I am optimistic Indonesia's children's songs ecosystem will be stronger," he observed.

Makarim conveyed the statement at an event held to mark National Music Day by his ministry, which was followed online on Thursday.

According to the minister, mutual cooperation is key for the successful strengthening of the children's songs ecosystem. Thus, the strengthening of the ecosystem must become a movement pursued by all layers of the community, such as players in the art and cultural sectors, parents, teachers, and the general public.

Another important thing is developing the ecosystem to improve its use as a medium for education, especially regarding the education of characters and the state ideology of Pancasila, he said.

Children should listen to songs that are appropriate for their age when they are at home, at school, and when they are socializing in the community, he added. In this, parents, teachers, and the mass media play an important role.

The National Music Day commemoration is the right momentum to strengthen the commitment and cooperation to advance the ecosystem of children's songs, he said.

The commemoration event featured performances of children's songs prepared through the We Love Children's Songs (Kila) program.

The inclusion of children's songs is a good sign that the Indonesian children's songs ecosystem has started to revive again and is increasingly developing, he noted.

"The ministry's commitment to holding Kila as an annual program has created talented and praiseworthy young talents," he remarked.

The Kila program has produced young singers who specialize in performing children's songs. The program has also involved musicians and music artists in the country in the making of children's songs.

The Kila program has increased the collection of children's songs with various themes.

To this end, Makarim stressed the importance of promoting the songs that have been made through the program to be used for educational purposes.
