The management of orphanages should comply with the standards, and they should be constantly monitored and evaluated by government institutions, he said.
This must be undertaken to prevent actions that violate existing regulations, such as those pertaining to violence or abandonment, he added.
He made the statement in response to reports of violence perpetrated on dozens of children by an orphanage owner in Palembang, South Sumatra.
An orphanage should be a place for children to receive love and protection, thus the case should be paid attention to by all parties, Nahar said.
"We expect that this becomes a serious consideration, not just for government institutions, but also communities around the orphanages, because a similar case may occur once more," he added.

An orphanage, as a Children Social Prosperity Institution (LKSA), is meant to guarantee the protection of children and serve as their guardian, he said.
Moreover, orphanages are obligated to uphold children's rights, including the rights to mental and social guidance, he added.
Law No.35 of 2014 on Children Protection mandates that every child has the right to protection from violence and discrimination, he highlighted.
Violence against children violates Article 76C in conjunction with Article 80 of Law No. 35 of 2014 on Children Protection, he added.
Earlier, the harassment of 18 children by an orphanage owner in Palembang came to light after a video of him getting violent with the children spread on social media.
