"The key to the success of all vocational programs is industry participation. The bigger the role of the industry, the better our curriculum will be," he stated in Batang, Central Java, Monday.
Effendy noted that education and job training curriculum can be determined by the world of work and not by education organizers. Hence, vocational and job training students must have the abilities and skills required by the world of work.
During the establishment of the regional coordinating team for the revitalization of vocational education and training, Effendy remarked that the objective behind establishing the regional coordination team for vocational education and training revitalization was to build a vocational education and training ecosystem in Batang District.
"The leading sector in this project is the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) and is supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the manpower minister," he stated.
In addition, he noted that the context of the education and training curriculum has shifted from being supply-oriented to demand-oriented.
"Nowadays, the world of work determines the vocational curriculum instead of the vocational agency," he pointed out.
In pursuit of achieving the target, the minister outlined strategies, such as increasing the specific advantages of vocational education and vocational training institutions as well as increasing access and quality.
In addition, the relevance of implementing vocational education and training as well as increasing participation in the world of work are also important strategies, he stressed.
To this end, Effendy called on the Batang district government to communicate with Kendal District, especially in preparing manpower, as the two regions have industrial zones.
"This refers to Presidential Regulation Number 68 of 2022 concerning the Revitalization of Vocational Education. Therefore, Batang District, which has an industrial area, must coordinate regarding formation of the team," he noted.
