Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno has said that the newly launched superpetani.com application could help pare down the supply chain for staple foods and make their prices more affordable for the public.

"Miss Eprilia (Eprilia Tri Arum Taurusia, Sandi Super Volunteer head) unveiled the superpetani.com," he said at the launch of the application, which was initiated by Sandi Super Volunteer in Depok, West Java, on Sunday.

"This application can connect production, distribution, and consumption centers to ensure that the price of staple foods can be affordable," he noted.

The superpetani.com application could open business opportunities and jobs, he stated.

Uno, who became the first person to use the application, said he expects the application to help farmers, especially those affected by the earthquake in Cianjur, West Java, some time ago.

"This technology will allow staple goods to be directly delivered to distributors and the people effectively," he explained.

"They will be directly delivered by an electric vehicle named Gelis, Gerobak Listrik (Electric Cart). Now, this is an extraordinary breakthrough," he stressed.

The application's launch received a warm welcome, including from a quake-affected farmer from Cianjur, Hermana Permana.

During the question and answer with the minister session, Permana expressed his appreciation for the application's unveiling. He also used the occasion to share his complaints with Uno.

Meanwhile, Taurusia, who is also the head of the Glory Indonesia Rice Foundation (YPIJ), said that people could also become retailers by opening kiosks on superpetani.com.

She further informed that she will add transportation armada to help supply staple foods.

"We will try to support by providing various armada. From trucks, boxes, to the smallest vehicle motorcycles," she said.
