Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has asked the Judicial Commission (KY) and the Supreme Court (MA) to strengthen synergy to maintain and uphold the honor, nobleness, and conduct of judges.

"The synergy between the Judicial Commission and the Supreme Court needs to be strengthened to maintain and uphold honor in order to maintain the noble dignity and conduct of judges who are a vital part of achieving an advanced Indonesia," he said in a speech broadcast on KY's Youtube channel and followed from here on Monday.

President Widodo issued the directive during the “2022 KY Annual Report” delivery. He said that KY, as the Supreme Court's partner, must keep cooperating to ensure just legal certainty and fulfill the community's sense of justice.

He emphasized that the government will always support every step KY takes to improve the quality of judicial services.

"We must actively record the community's complaints, the justice seekers, and take concrete steps to ensure a sense of justice," he said.

He also lauded KY's hard work in maintaining the dignity of the judicial world, for instance, by making its annual report public.

"The role of the Judicial Commission as an independent and external overseeing body in judicial reform is vital so that the justice power prioritizes judicial accountability," he said.

Meanwhile, KY Head Mukti Fajar Nur Dewata revealed that KY received 2,925 community complaints related to the alleged violations of the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct for Judges (KEPPH) in 2022.

Of that number, he said, 1,662 reports were submitted directly by the public to KY, while another 1,263 were filed in the form of carbon copy notations.

Jakarta province registered the highest number of KEPPH reports in 2022 at 316, followed by East Java with 181 reports and North Sumatra with 159 reports, according to KY.
