Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Judicial Commission (KY) will continue its probe of Central Jakarta District Court judges who made the March 2, 2023, ruling on delaying the 2024 General Elections, which has since been overturned by a higher court.

"Despite the appeal (against the ruling) has been accepted -- yes, it has been overruled -- we will proceed with the probe to investigate possible ethics violations committed by the judges in Central Jakarta (District Court)," Head of the KY's Judge Monitoring and Investigation Department Joko Sasmito informed here on Wednesday.

The Judicial Commission received five reports regarding the March ruling, he disclosed, adding that the commission has summoned one of the five informers for questioning on Thursday (April 14).

"I instruct them to communicate it first. Whoever is ready for questioning, we will summon them," Sasmito said.

The KY will also audit court clerks involved in the ruling, he added.

"If we find suspected ethics violation, we will proceed to investigate the judging panel," the KY department head said.

On March 2, the Central Jakarta District Court accepted a lawsuit filed by the Just and Prosperous People's Party (Prima) in its entirety and instructed the General Elections Commission (KPU) to cease the election process for at least two years, four months, and seven days.

The district court ruled that Prima had been affected by KPU's mistake, negligence, and lack of professionalism, which cost the party its opportunity to participate in the election.

The KPU officially appealed the ruling to the higher court on March 10, and on Tuesday (April 11), the Jakarta High Court accepted the appeal.

The decision read by Chief Judge Sugeng Riyono at the trial session on Tuesday effectively overturned Central Jakarta District Court's decision No. 757/pdtg/2022 on March 2, 2023, on delaying the elections.

The high court also accepted the electoral commission's argument that the Central Jakarta District Court has no competency and jurisdiction over the case filed by the minor party.
