Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture highlighted that family communication is the main key to preventing children from becoming bullies.

"Communication is the main key to prevent bullying behaviors," the ministry's deputy for the Coordination of Education Quality Improvement and Religious Moderation Warsito stated here on Tuesday.

Warsito explained that parents need to build sound communication patterns and teach their children the importance of loving others.

"Good communication is needed to build children's character, so that they become individuals, who have noble character. Parents also need to teach love, so that children grow into loving individuals," he remarked.

Warsito further noted that parental intervention from an early age is expected to help prevent bullying behaviors and prevent children from becoming perpetrators of violence.

"This needs to be a shared concern," he stated.

He also reminded parents to ensure that their children grow up happily to prevent them from experiencing traumas that can hinder their growth and development.

"Traumas in children due to violent acts that they experienced can interfere with their mental development. To this end, parents must ensure their children can grow and develop well, starting from the physical aspect to mental," he remarked.

Meanwhile, the ministry's Acting Deputy for the Coordination of Children, Women, and Youth's Quality Improvement Didik Suhardi stated that the Muslim holy month of Ramadan is the right momentum for improving communication between family members.

"The Ramadan month is effective to improve family communication, considering that there are many opportunities that can be used to interact with each other, such as while eating suhoor and waiting for iftar together," he remarked.

He also stated that parents need to use the holy month to engage in various activities that can support character building in children.
