Indonesia is always in our hearts and certainly, Palestine always respects the people of Indonesia...
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received a courtesy call from Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Zuhair Al-Shun at the Presidential Palace here on Friday.

The ambassador said that he conveyed Ramadhan greetings to President Jokowi and all Indonesian people during the visit. The Indonesian Religious Affairs Ministry earlier declared March 23, 2023, as the first day of Ramadhan 1444 Hijri.

"We came this morning to convey our greetings on the month of Ramadhan to His Excellency (President Joko Widodo) and for all Indonesian people, wishing all the best for all,” Al-Shun told the media after the meeting.

He said that President Jokowi assured him of Indonesia’s consistent support for Palestine.

“(The President told me) that full support (for Palestine), according to Indonesian principles and statutory regulations, will surely not change," the ambassador informed.

He said that he and the Indonesian President also discussed the current situation in Palestine during their meeting.

Asked whether he and President Jokowi also talked about Israel's participation in the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be hosted by Indonesia from May 20 to June 11, Al-Shun said that they did not discuss that at all.

Furthermore, he emphasized the close relations between Palestine and Indonesia. He said he believes that the bilateral relations between the two countries will continue to advance in the future.

"Indonesia is always in our hearts and certainly, Palestine always respects the people of Indonesia, the policies of its government, and all (social) communities who always pay attention and fully support (us), so that our bilateral relations will surely keep increasing," he added.

Recently, Indonesia reiterated its commitment to helping realize economic growth, decent jobs, and social justice in Palestine.

This was conveyed by Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah during the Minister of Manpower Intervention on the High-Level Partners’ Meeting in Amman, Jordan, on February 23.

She said that her ministry is planning to provide assistance in vocational training as well as capacity building in work safety and health (K3) to the Palestinian government.
