Depok, West Java (ANTARA) - Duke of Mangkunegara X from Surakarta, KGPAA Bhre Cakarahutomo Wira Sudjiwo, gave a public lecture for the vocational education program of the University of Indonesia (UI), which was themed “Proud to be Indonesia.”

"Many things have been done in the Mangkunegaran of Surakarta to invite the younger generation to participate in preserving Indonesian culture," he said here on Friday.

According to him, digital technology development has helped the Mangkunegaran Duchy to make culture, especially Javanese culture, more attractive to young people.

"We make it opportunities that must be maximized," the Duke, who is an alumnus of UI's Faculty of Law, said.

According to him, digitalization has improved the ability of Mangkunegaran Duchy to brand and promote Javanese customs and culture.

He said the impact of digitalization can be seen from the increase in the number of tourists to three hundred to four hundred on weekdays and more than one thousand during the holiday season.

Mangkunegaran is also running several programs such as music events, sports, and works of art for introducing culture to young people.

"We introduce them to the Mangkunegaran, and they are eventually interested and enthusiastic about culture," he informed.

The Pura Mangkunegaran palace complex in Surakarta, Central Java, is a popular tourist destination.

In addition to its heritage attraction, it has the revitalized Pracima Park, which was inaugurated by State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir on January 21, 2023.

Sudjiwo said the role of Pura Mangkunegaran is not only to disseminate culture to the society, but also to collaborate with various scientific fields to help advance Indonesia.

The most essential thing for maintaining national integrity is to continue to develop without forgetting the roots of national values, he stressed.

The national roots include the Pancasila values that need to be applied by the younger generation, he added.
