Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian contingent for the 32nd SEA Games, Lexyndo Hakim, has stated that his team has conducted simulations to ensure the smooth departure of athletes to Cambodia.

"We aim to provide good service, comfort, and hospitality to the athletes. Thererefor, we visited the venues there (in Cambodia) and simulated the departure of the athletes, including flight arrangements," he informed in a statement received on Saturday.

According to an article on the Olympic Council of Asia’s website, the multi-sport event is scheduled to take place from May 5–17, 2023, in five cities in Cambodia: Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, Kampot, and Kep.

Hakim said that the limited number of flights from Jakarta to the cities hosting the SEA Games was one of the concerns of his team. However, he assured that the athletes would not be disturbed by this.

He said that the athletes would have to transit through Singapore to reach Phnom Penh.

“In Singapore, we need to know the duration of the transit and the procedures involved. We pay attention to such details," he added.

He said that his team has also paid attention to the preparations for the departure of the athletes to Siem Reap, which is the farthest from Cambodian capital Phnom Penh among the host cities.

“It is the reason that the CdM team took the initiative to visit Cambodia and coordinate with the local organizing committee,” Hakim said.

The team has also discussed the preparation of the infrastructure at the venues with the SEA Games committee in Cambodia, he said.

He added that the CdM team is committed to serving all Indonesian athletes competing in all sports during their stay in Cambodia.

Therefore, the CdM has asked all athletes to focus on their training sessions and matches to win medals.

"I and all CdM team members are committed to trying our best. Hence, non-technical issues will not disturb the high optimism and enthusiasm of the athletes who are about to face the 2023 SEA Games,” he said.
