Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Bintang Puspayoga, is striving to protect women and children victims of violence through the utilization of the Women and Child-Friendly House (Rumah SAPA).

"We had inaugurated Rumah SAPA on February 22, 2023, and have been using (it) as intended, which is using it as a protection shelter for children and women victims of violence," she said in a statement released on Wednesday.

According to Puspayoga, Rumah SAPA is currently implementing services for children who require special protection.

"We are making an effort to have children victims be able to live safely, comfortably, receive protection and assistance based on their needs," she said.

The ministry is providing a variety of services for victims of violence so that they can recover.

These facilities include the assessment of the victims' condition and that of the victims' families when the victims are returned to them.

"In Rumah SAPA, the team will facilitate an assessment service for victims to ensure their biological, social, and spiritual condition," she said.

The result of the assessment will serve as a reference point for Rumah SAPA in preparing the assistance that the victims need, the minister explained.

It will also help determine whether victims can be returned to their environment or if they need to go through a social reintegration process, she added.

Puspayoga said that the assessment process to determine the social reintegration process will also include the victims' family members.

The assessment will be undertaken by psychologists and social workers to ensure the readiness of the victims' families, both psychologically and materially, in supporting parenting.

Protection and recovery-stage victims in need of Rumah SAPA's facility can contact the SAPA 129 call center service.
