The information in ASEANpedia will continue to be updated according to the latest information developments.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Communication and Information Ministry has launched an e-book entitled ASEANpedia, which can be accessed by the public through https://s.id/aseanpedia, to support Indonesia's 2023 ASEAN chairmanship.

“The theme of Indonesia’s 2023 ASEAN chairmanships is ‘ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth,’” director general of public information and communication at the ministry Usman Kansong noted here on Monday.

“Hopefully, this e-book can make the public understand that ASEAN is relevant (or has the potential) to contribute to become a center of global economic growth," he added.

He further expected that the e-book can be a reference for finding information about ASEAN and Indonesia’s chairmanship of the grouping in 2023. The book also summarizes ASEAN's economic and political success.

The information in ASEANpedia has been presented in three main chapters, namely General Information on ASEAN, Indonesia's Role in ASEAN, as well as Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2023.

The first chapter illustrates the history of the formation of ASEAN, including the Bangkok Declaration and ASEAN Charter.

It also discusses the membership requirements, official song, as well as roles of the regional association among the international community.

The second part of ASEANpedia describes Indonesia's contribution to ASEAN, including the works of Adam Malik – a diplomat who later served as the 3rd vice president of Indonesia -- as the founder of ASEAN.

Furthermore, the book also highlights Indonesia’s role in reconciling various parties in the region, such as Vietnam and Cambodia, Thailand and Cambodia, as well as the government of the Philippines and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).

Meanwhile, the third chapter explains Indonesia’s 2023 ASEAN chairmanship, including the vision and mission, the meaning of the theme and logo, as well as the location of the summit.

Not only as a source of information for the public, the e-book can also serve as a reference for the mass media in seeking information about the series of activities throughout the 2023 ASEAN chairmanship, the director general said.

The contents of ASEANpedia, which currently span 82 pages, will be regularly added with articles, infographics, or videos, he informed.

"The information in ASEANpedia will continue to be updated according to the latest information developments," he added.
