Labuan Bajo, NTT (ANTARA) - The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry is set to establish help desks and Tourism Information Centers (TIC) at 10 locations in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai district, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province, during the 42nd ASEAN Summit.

"Provided by the Labuan Bajo Flores Tourism Authority (BPOLBF), we will have help desks and TIC at 10 locations, including 8 hotels and the airport," said the ministry’s secretary, Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani, during a media briefing on the summit preparations held on Tuesday.

The international event is scheduled to take place on May 9–11, 2023.

The establishment of the TIC and help desks aims to disseminate information on the tourist destinations and attractions of Labuan Bajo.

A total of 20 officers will be stationed at the 10 locations to provide information on local tourism potential to the summit delegates.

"The officers will start to work on May 8. On the D-day of the summit, they will wear traditional clothes to showcase our rich cultures and customs," she said.

Furthermore, the ministry is also preparing to hold a street carnival involving 40 local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from May 7 to 13, which is expected to involve 3 thousand people and boost the local economy.

Adnyani expects that by holding the carnival, foreigners will get to know that Indonesia has several quality tourist destinations besides Bali, such as Labuan Bajo.

The media briefing on Tuesday was attended by Communication and Information Minister Johnny G. Plate, head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), Moeldoko, as well as director general of public information and communication at the Communication and Information Ministry, Usman Kansong.

Earlier, the BPOLBF said that apart from the street carnival, it will also hold a cave festival at the Batu Cermin Cave as well as the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Hub on the Kampung Ujung Waterfront from May 7 to 13.
