Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) has expressed full support for the 2023 Istiqlal Foodtruck Bazaar, which has been organized as part of an effort to revive the economy and create jobs.

"This is the result of a collaboration between the ministry and Jakarta Foodtruck Community as well as Istiqlal Mosque," said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, in a press statement received here on Tuesday.

Minister Uno earlier said the same thing during "The Weekly Brief With Sandi Uno" at the Sapta Pesona Building here on Monday.

The culinary bazaar is being held in the VIP Parking area of Plaza Al-Fatah Istiqlal Mosque, Central Jakarta, from April 1–18, 2023. The bazaar will be open from 3:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. local time.

Uno said the culinary market activity is seeking to take advantage of the fasting month because of an expected increase in turnover during Ramadhan until the Eid holiday.

"This takes advantage of the opportunities (because) in the month of Ramadhan the level of consumption increases, and this is also their momentum to move up their class," he explained.

"Apart from enjoying the food truck festival, bazaar visitors can also get entertainment through the presence of a music corner on April 1–10,” Uno said.

He invited the people of Jakarta and its surroundings to visit Istiqlal Mosque and shop at the bazaar.

"Come visit the 2023 Istiqlal Foodtruck Bazaar, I will be there tonight. Enjoy the diversity of culinary menus served by various local food trucks," he said.

In a separate statement, the minister informed that the culinary industry has the potential to increase its turnover by around 35–45 percent during Ramadan until Eid this year.

He said the potential and opportunities for the culinary industry to sell their products during Ramadan are also significantly high, especially since the community activity restrictions (PPKM) have been lifted.

According to the ministry, the culinary industry experienced a growth of 4.90 percent (year-on-year) in 2022.

Meanwhile, this year, the ministry has estimated that the industry may grow by around 6.25 percent compared to 2022.
