The development of villages is getting more promising and better in the future.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Minister Abdul Halim Iskandar commended the village-owned enterprise (BUMDesa) Mekar Sembada Mulya for managing local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through applying a communal system.

The BUMDesa is located in Wonolelo Village, Sawangan Sub-district, Magelang District, Central Java Province.

"(Here in Wonolelo Village), there is an innovation that truly (applies) the local wisdom, but it can (also) be emulated in other places, namely in the management of MSME stalls, with a communal system,” the minister remarked in a press release on Friday.

“This is a good practice and must be made popular," he emphasized.

He noted that the communal system is implemented by involving 10 heads of families to take turns in managing each MSME stall according to the determined schedule, while the revenue of the stall will be divided to each head of families equally.

Each participant of this system has the opportunity to trade at the stall for eight days, Iskandar noted.

"Thus, whoever (the trader is), whenever the day, whatever the situation of the visitors (whether it is packed or uncrowded), there will be no problem, and it will be equally beneficial (for all participants)," he stated while visiting the BUMDesa on Thursday (April 13, 2023).

The communal system is in accordance with harmony that is one of the values of the village community, he remarked.

The minister expects other villages to also implement the system to optimize their own potential.

"Harmony, communality, and togetherness are the characteristics of a village. We have to (also) amplify them (the characteristics) in other regions as good practices from Wonolelo Village, Sawangan Sub-district, Magelang District,” he stressed.

He said that the idea of running the communal MSME stalls was the result of discussions conducted by various parties, including the village head, BUM Desa managers, as well as local residents.

Iskandar said that the village cultures and values, including the implementation of consensus decision-making, will expedite the realization of village development targets.

"The development of villages is getting more promising and better in the future,” he noted.
