The Catering Academy Program focuses on women's empowerment by training them to develop their skills in gastronomy and culinary business.
Bandung, W Java (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has implemented the Catering Academy Program in Bandung city, West Java province, to encourage the establishment of more women-owned micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

"The Catering Academy Program focuses on women's empowerment by training them to develop their skills in gastronomy and culinary business," Kadin chairperson Arsjad Rasjid said on the sidelines of the Kadin Impact Award event here on Friday.

The participants of the Catering Academy Program will undergo training led by experienced culinary practitioners, he added.

"Thus, in the future, they (the training participants) can establish MSMEs in the catering service sector," he said.

He emphasized that women have important roles in various aspects of life, including in national and global economic recovery.

The program has been initiated by the Kadin representative in Bandung city and is expected to help advance women-led MSMEs so that they can continue to grow.

Hence, the Kadin chairperson lauded the program for actively promoting women's empowerment.

"We must support the sustainability of this program, seeing that West Java is ranked first nationally as the province with the most food and beverage MSMEs, with Bandung city as one of the biggest contributors," he said.

Meanwhile, head of the Kadin representative office in Bandung city, Iwa Gartiwa, said that he was happy to see the large number of women’s MSMEs participating in the Catering Academy Program.

Through the program, women entrepreneurs can learn new skills and improve the quality of their catering business, he added.

"In addition, this program is also a forum for innovation for business actors in this digital era," Gartiwa remarked.

The number of participants in the Catering Academy Program has continued to increase every year, he noted. Since 2020 to date, the number of participants has reached more than 2,700.

The program does not only focus on training business players in the basics of making culinary products, but also teaches them about marketing strategies so that they can promote their products more widely.
