Surabaya, East Java (ANTARA) - National Police (Polri) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo reviewed the readiness of three ports— Gilimanuk in Bali, Ketapang in Banyuwangi, and Tanjung Perak in Surabaya—for handling this year's Eid al-Fitr exodus flow.

Speaking at Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya, East Java, on Wednesday, Prabowo said that the three ports are ready to accommodate travelers.

"There has been an increase in travelers in the ports of East Java and Bali of 10–15 percent (compared to the previous year). Most of the travelers are headed to Makassar, Kalimantan, and Lombok," he noted.

According to his inspection, travelers at the three ports are being served well.

"I talked with passengers who said that the trip was good, there was no problem. The service was also nice," he said.

However, he urged on-duty officers to keep working professionally.

"I ask on-duty officers to synergize in carrying out services because the number of travelers has increased," he said.

On Tuesday (April 18, 2023), Prabowo and the Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander, Admiral Yudo Margono, inspected the integrated service post at Purabaya Bus Terminal in Surabaya to ensure the smoothness of the Eid exodus flow.

He said that Purabaya Terminal is the police's concern because it is the largest terminal there that connects provinces and districts.

He also assured that the bus drivers were in a good condition to ensure the safety of passengers.

The police chief also monitored the exodus flow at Surabaya's Juanda Airport. To support the exodus flow, the Transportation Ministry is offering a free exodus program via ships for people bringing their motorcycles home.

The capacity for both the exodus and return flow has been set at 5 thousand passengers and 2,500 motorcycles. Passengers will get two meals and two snacks during the long trip.
