Jakarta (ANTARA) - Seat occupancy in trains departing from operational area (Daop) 1 Jakarta during the homecoming period from April 19–21, 2023, has reached 100 percent, the public relations head of state-owned PT KAI (Daop 1) has informed.

"All tickets from April 19 to 21 have been 100 percent sold," Eva Chairunisa said in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Even though the occupancy is full, there is still a chance to get a ticket if a prospective passenger cancels their journey, she added.

Potential buyers can check ticket cancellations through the online ticket booking service owned by railway company KAI and other online travel agents (OTA), she informed.

"People can cancel their ticket for personal reasons, then their ticket will appear again and other people can buy it," she said.

Meanwhile, she disclosed that as of Wednesday, around 580 thousand tickets for Eid homecoming from Gambir and Pasar Senen stations have been sold, with the preferred departure dates being April 17–23.p

She also urged the public to avoid buying tickets from unauthorized third parties or resellers since passengers need to show personal ids to board trains but resellers purchase tickets using their own identity.

Officers overseeing the boarding process will check and match the data of the actual passengers and the ones registered during the ticket purchase, she said.

"In the past, resellers used to buy tickets and sell them at higher prices. Now they cannot do that," she added.

In order to suppress potential ticket resales, KAI will not provide the service of changing the data to that of ticket holders, she informed.

"For a typo on the passenger's name, we will allow that. But changing the whole passenger’s name, we cannot do that," she added.

One of the passengers, Nityana Anisah, said that she faced difficulty ordering tickets online because she experienced a problem in accessing KAI's official application, namely KAI Access.

Anisah, who plans to go home from Gambir Station to Madiun, East Java, on the Bima train, said that it took her about four hours to access KAI Access on March 4, 2023.

"I opened the application at midnight but I was only able to get a ticket at 3:30 a.m. in the morning because the application was down and could not be accessed," she informed.
