"Overall, I have seen that, based on sampling, it has been very good," he said during a visit to Merak Port here on Wednesday.
Effendy noted that he had carried out the monitoring of exodus services in the past few days at several locations, such as the Trans Java Toll Road up to the Kalikangkung area in Semarang, Ciwandan Port, and Merak Port.
In addition, several ministers and the National Police (Polri) chief and staff have also monitored several bus terminals, stations, and airports to ensure the Eid al-Fitr transportation is running smoothly and safely this year.
The minister expressed his gratitude to ministries, institutions, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and private companies for providing free exodus transportation services to people.
"Especially, to reduce the number of exodus travelers who use motorcycles because the highest number of accidents is among exodus travelers who use motorcycles, which are suspected of being caused by exhaustion," he said.
He reminded exodus travelers to pay attention to their health during the journey. They were also asked to be careful in choosing the type of bus, especially the one that will be used to travel to tourist destinations, in order to ensure it is in good condition and meets the safety aspects.
"Remember that safety must come first, then other things," the minister stressed.
For this year's Eid al-Fitr, the government has projected that the number of Eid exodus travelers will reach 123 million, based on a survey of potential people's movement during the Eid period.
The figure reflects an increase compared to the number of exodus travelers in 2022, which stood at 85 million.
