"For the Cikampek-Jakarta toll road section, we have agreed with (operator) Jasa Marga on a 20-percent discount to travelers returning to Jakarta on April 26-27, while the negotiation for such discount in the Kalikangkung toll road section with its operator is ongoing," Effendy stated here on Friday.
The coordinating minister remarked on Thursday (April 20) that he had presided over a coordination meeting on Eid return flow management with the police chief and traffic corps chief, transportation ministry, public works and public housing ministry, and toll road operators.
Effendy pointed out that one of the main points discussed at the meeting is the possibility of congestion during the return flow peak expected on April 25.
"Moreover, while vehicles returning in the Eid reverse flow are projected to reach 203 thousand, the highways are capable of accommodating only 175 thousand, and we need to restrict up to another 40 thousand vehicles," Effendy noted.

He also urged travelers not in urgent need to return to Jakarta soon to resume working to extend their stay at their respective hometowns.
"Travelers are encouraged to extend their return time. Hence, if they have no urgency to return to Jakarta very soon, they can stay a little longer in their hometown to visit tourist attractions or buy souvenirs before returning to Jakarta," the coordinating minister stated.
In line with Effendy's statement, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi earlier also called on residents travelling during the Eid period to return to Jakarta later on April 26 until April 29 to relieve congestion during the expected return peak.
