Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta provincial government held the Monas Week and Monas Art Festival at the National Monument (Monas), Central Jakarta, on April 23-30, 2023, to promote tourism and creative economy.

Acting Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono has opened the Monas Week event marked by a video mapping attraction with the tagline 'Jakcation' #Lebaran2023.

Hartono said in a statement on Monday that Monas Week is part of the provincial government's efforts to promote tourism and creative economy, especially during this Eid al-Fitr holiday when scores of people from outside visit Monas.

"We gather at Monas because the Jakarta Tourism Office provides services to entertain the people throughout the holiday," he stated.

"Insya Allah (God willing), there will be another one next year with additional one or two spots," he remarked.

The acting governor urged visitors to Monas to participate in maintaining cleanliness and order at the tourism destination for collective comfort.

"Enjoy Monas and please maintain cleanliness. For those who bring children, please look after them," he added.

The Monas Week features Eid al-Fitr special music performances that the people can experience at 6:30-7:00 p.m. local time.

Next, visitors can witness the Dancing Water Fountain at 7:30-8:00 p.m. local time that is then continued at 8:30-9:00 p.m. local time.

The peak event of the video mapping attraction is held in two sessions at 8:00-8:30 p.m. and 9:00-9:30 p.m. local time.

Meanwhile, the Monas Art Festival is held at the west pedestrian road starting from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. local time.

The event titled "Senandung Taman Monas" can also be experienced at the north side counter at 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. local time.

The next location is the tourism train queue spot located in the south side at 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. local time.

Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office Head Andhika Permata invited people to also visit the Kota Tua (Old Town) area.

The Kota Tua area has been renovated with the Eid al-Fitr ornament bearing the theme of "Enlightening Kota Tua". People can enjoy several sports centered at the Kali Besar Barat Road.

"Enlightening Kota Tua" is a tourism attraction that features the Islamic ornament at Kota Tua. Spotlight was also installed to provide an aesthetic light effect, Permata said.

The spotlight is adjusted, in terms of the light intensity, color, and light beam direction, to add to the beauty of Kota Tua.

"Do not miss it because the photo taken in 'Enlightening Kota Tua' is suitable for a feed or story featured on the residents' social media accounts," he said.

"This will add to the glory of this year's Eid al-Fitr holiday," he added.
