Kupang, NTT (ANTARA) - State-owned electricity company, PT PLN Main Unit for East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), has vowed to ensure reliability of the electricity system in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai District, to support implementation of the 2023 ASEAN Summit on May 9-11.

"We ensure the reliable operation of the electricity system from the generator, transmission, and the distribution in Labuan Bajo as the location for the 2023 ASEAN Summit on May 9-11," General Manager of PLN NTT Main Unit I Gede Agung Sindu Putra said in a statement received here on Monday.

Putra explained that securing electricity supply for the 2023 ASEAN Summit activities would be prioritized at the venues of activities, such as the Meruorah Hotel, Ayana Resort, Plataran Komodo, and Sudamala Resort where the delegates will be staying.

He also ensures safe electricity supply at other vital objects, such as hospitals, security posts, and tourist areas.

"We have prepared personnel and electrical support equipment at these locations," he stated.

He noted that earlier, PLN had also inaugurated the Flores Control Center, which included the Flores Regional Control Center (RCC) and the Maumere Distribution Control Center (DCC).

The facility is the control center for the Flores system's electricity distribution from Labuan Bajo to Maumere and the control center for the electricity distribution of Flores Island, he said.

In addition, seven fast-charging Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) have been prepared to charge electric vehicles used during activities, Putra said.

"We also continue to strengthen the reliability of the generator system by ensuring sufficient primary energy availability and upgrading the network on the distribution side," he stated.

On Saturday, April 22, Indonesian President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana visited Labuan Bajo to check the readiness of this super-priority tourist destination for hosting the 2023 ASEAN Summit.

The ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo is scheduled to be attended by the regional grouping's leaders and other delegations. Indonesia is chairing ASEAN in 2023 by adopting the theme of "ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth."
