Maintain your physical condition well, check the roadworthiness of your vehicle, and pay attention to weather conditions while traveling -- safety first.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry ensured that the stocks of fuel, including avtur, are safe and sufficient during the 1444 Hijri Eid al-Fitr returning period.

"All (fuel supply and distribution) is normal and under control," head of the ministry’s 1444 Hijri Eid al-Fitr National Post on the ESDM Erika Retnowati noted in a statement on Wednesday.

The national distribution of natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) was also under control, she stated.

“The national electricity system is also in normal condition. The national supply capacity is above peak load," she remarked.

Furthermore, the head of the national ESDM post appealed to all returning travelers to prepare for their trip well, including refuelling their vehicle before departing, considering the density of the returning traffic flow.

"We guarantee that the availability of fuel at gas stations (SPBU) is maintained. Maintain your physical condition well, check the roadworthiness of your vehicle, and pay attention to weather conditions while traveling -- safety first," she affirmed.

The national post, which is assigned to coordinate and supervise the distribution of energy commodities as well as mitigate the geological disasters, has been on duty from April 10 to May 2, 2023.

The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) was appointed as the coordinator for the implementation of the national post in 2023.

“As stated prior, this year's Eid al-Fitr holiday period is longer as compared to (the holiday period in the) previous years,” Retnowati, who concurrently serves as the head of BPH Migas, noted.

“Hence, intensive communication and synergy with energy stakeholders are important, so that people can carry out their activities comfortably (during the holiday)," she remarked.

Furthermore, after a 6.9-magnitude (M) earthquake jolted the northwest of the Mentawai Islands District, West Sumatra Province, on Tuesday morning, the official stated that her side had coordinated with all stakeholders to immediately assess and evaluate various energy facilities in the affected areas.

Retnowati remarked that currently, her side continues to coordinate to ensure that there is no significant impact on the distribution of energy commodities in earthquake-affected areas.

The government had announced that the 1444 Hijri Eid al-Fitr in Indonesia would be observed on April 22 this year and scheduled a joint leave period for the holy day on April 19-25.

The Greater Jakarta Regional Police had projected that the first peak period of the returning flow would occur on April 25-26, while the second one was estimated to take place on April 30 to May 1.
