Labuan Bajo, NTT (ANTARA) - The East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police conducted traffic engineering in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) for the 42nd ASEAN Summit on May 9-11, 2023.

"There are routes that will be closed or diverted from May 7 to May 10. However, it will not be implemented for 24 hours," NTT Regional Police Chief Inspector General Johanis Asadoma stated at the ASEAN Summit Security Press Conference in Labuan Bajo on Thursday.

During the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, the NTT Regional Police will close some roads, divert traffic, and conduct reverse traffic engineering. The goal is to expedite the delegates' travel time, he added.

He remarked that traffic engineering will be conducted in the form of counter-flow on the route from Sudamala Hotel to Meruorah Hotel and then from Meruorah Hotel to Ayana Hotel.

Asadoma remarked that road closure and traffic diversion will not be conducted for too long and only in the event of mobility of delegates from one point of activity to another point of activity.

"That will be temporary. If there is a movement, we close it. After it is done, we will open it again for at least one hour. It will only be temporarily," he explained.

In addition, he expressed hope that the public would obey and support the regulation to ensure the success of the ASEAN summit since it will support the good name of Indonesia and Labuan Bajo.

The 42nd ASEAN Summit will take place in Labuan Bajo on May 9-11, 2023. The activity will be centered at the Meruorah Labuan Bajo Hotel and the Ayana Labuan Bajo Hotel.
