Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry ensures that Meruorah Hotel in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, is ready to serve as venue for the successful holding of the 42nd ASEAN Summit on May 9-11, 2023.

Corporate Secretary of state-owned passenger ferry operator company, ASDP Indonesia Ferry, Shelvy Arifin said that the construction work for Meruorah Hotel, as one of the main locations for the ASEAN Summit, was almost fully complete.

"Progress is currently 97 percent, with a full completion target on April 30, 2023," Arifin noted in a written statement received in Jakarta, Friday.

Meruorah Komodo Labuan Bajo Hotel is located in the Labuan Bajo Integrated Marine Area belonging to ASDP. The hotel, managed by a subsidiary of ASDP, PT Indonesia Ferry Property (IFPRO), will be used as the main location for the ASEAN Summit for meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions (MICE) as well as accommodation for delegations.

Moreover, Arifin said, the hotel, with 145 rooms, is also equipped with a multifunction hall having a capacity of one thousand people and the commercial area of Labuan Bajo Marina Plaza.

"We also involve a number of local MSMEs, who supply food materials for the kitchen as well as F&B equipment for the Meruorah Komodo Hotel, such as placemats ordered for MSMEs assisted by the Ministry of Social Affairs," she said.

Meanwhile, President Director of IFPRO Ferry Snyders stated that during a recent visit to Labuan Bajo, President Joko Widodo had also checked directly to ensure the complete and detailed readiness of Meruorah Hotel in welcoming the heads of state and government as well as delegations from ASEAN countries.

"The Meruorah Komodo Labuan Bajo Hotel has experience, as the main venue, for international-scale activities, so it is certain that it is ready to support the 2023 ASEAN Summit. Once again, thank you for the trust given to ASDP for organizing this big event," Snyders stated.

Earlier, the Meruorah Hotel was trusted with holding the International Association of Women Police (IAWP) in 2021 and six side events of the G20 Ministerial meeting comprising the Asia International Week Water (AIWW), 1st TWG Meeting, SAI20, 2nd ETWG Meeting, Sherpa Meeting, and 3rd DEWG Meeting.

Snyders said that the holding of the ASEAN Summit will help to revive Indonesian tourism, especially in Labuan Bajo, which is surrounded by islands that have charmed both local and foreign tourists.
