Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Border Management Authority (BNPP) will set up a task force for monitoring and evaluating development in 222 priority sub-districts in the border areas.

"Today, we prepare a task force to formulate the digital data of the priority locations based on name, address, and the coordinate points," BNPP Secretary Zudan Arif Fakrulloh informed here on Thursday.

He said the task force will create a database of national identification numbers (NIK) that will be updated regularly and continuously.

According to him, the task force will need to obtain detailed data on extreme poverty, unemployment, stunting, children dropping out of school, infrastructure development, infant mortality, and death rates from all the sub-districts.

He said that the task force is being established to evaluate the development targets that BNPP has coordinated with ministries and institutions over the past twelve years.

Furthermore, BNPP will formulate programs that are aimed at resolving development problems in the border areas.

The task force will intensively communicate with sub-district heads, the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), and legislators.

In 2022, as many as 3,123 action plans for border area development were carried out successfully.

These activities, he said, were carried out by 27 ministries/institutions that are members of the BNPP.

"We will evaluate data monitoring activities that have not been grouped in output achievements, whether the program is running well, and what contributions bring change in the border areas," he said.

BNPP's Deputy for State Border Management Robert Simbolon informed that his side is also improving border crossing services by developing smart border posts.

“We are also building the area around border posts as a socioeconomic facility to trigger local economic revival," Simbolon said.

As part of border crossing management, BNPP is also optimizing policies to improve non-border post gateway infrastructure, in accordance with the national standards, he added.
