Director of Beans and Tubers at the ministry, Enie Tauruslina Amarullah, said on Friday that under the farmers corporation program initiated by the ministry to improve upstream to downstream management, each of the beneficiaries is required to commit to doing their best in the management.
"Every corporation must manage from upstream to downstream; if they become centers of seed and then (pursue) downstreaming, they can become planting and processing centers," she said at the Soy Bean Seed Center in Sidorejo village, Ponjong sub-district, Gunungkidul.
She handed assistance in the form of one cultivator and five electric sprayers to support field management productivity during her visit.
"It is expected that the corporate-based program can go (optimally)," she said.
Deputy Head of Gunungkidul District, Heri Susanto, seconded Amarullah's statement on upstream to downstream management.
"It is expected that the impact multiplies, as well as improving public welfare, not only in Sidorejo," Susanto said.
The fields in Gunungkidul need to be mapped because they have great potential to be planted with soybeans and nuts, he added.
"We are ready to improve soybeans productivity in Gunungkidul, considering the great soil potential in Gunungkidul," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of Sri Rejeki farmers group Suhardi expressed gratitude for the aid.
"This aid, we will use it well to support the planting process and improve the result," he said.
