Phnom Penh, Cambodia (ANTARA) - Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo, during his visit to Cambodia, did not only oversee the Indonesian contingent at the 2023 SEA Games but also strengthened international cooperation, including with Malaysia.

In Phnom Penh, he met with the Malaysian Minister of Youth and Sports, Puan Hannah Yeoh, on Saturday to discuss several matters.

"While eating durian, we can discuss the potential for more cooperation between Malaysia and Indonesia," he remarked in his official statement in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on Sunday.

He mentioned that the cooperation being discussed was in the form of developing youth, diversity, and also bringing up new talents.

"We have the potential for cooperation, including youth development, especially diversity, religious moderation, and new talent. So we can have exchanges and collaborations in the future. Hopefully, the cooperation draft can be realized next July," the minister continued.

He also emphasized that competition at the 2023 SEA Games did not necessarily mean that all fields had to compete. In fact, he wanted to work together with other countries in the competition to strengthen the youth sector in ASEAN countries to face future challenges.

"Of course we must compete in the SEA Games. But once the game is finished, we have the potential to collaborate between countries. It is such a rare discussion, held at the durian stall," he stated.

On the other hand, Malaysia's Youth and Sports Minister Puan Hannah Yeoh expressed her gratitude for Minister Ariotedjo's invitation for a culinary tour while discussing cooperation between Malaysia and Indonesia.

"While enjoying Cambodian durians, we have discussed the potential for cooperation between Malaysia and Indonesia. We will prepare a draft for the cooperation to be immediately realized. It can also help the economies of both countries," she said.
