Thohir, on Wednesday, presented a timetable for the upcoming League 1 to the Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, who, together with his officials, promptly conceived a new security concept for all stakeholders of the football tournament.
“I lauded the Indonesian police’s quick response by promptly studying the timetable of the upcoming League 1 season and preparing a new security concept to ensure the smoothness of the national football competition,” Thohir said in a written statement received here on Thursday.
“This means the PSSI and the police have a strong commitment to improving the league organization together in the permit and security arrangement aspects to provide comfort for spectators, sponsors, football clubs, and television companies,” he added.
Thohir, who is also serving as Indonesia’s State-Owned Enterprises Minister, said that cooperation with the police is essential for realizing a professional and secure football environment that can support international achievements.
“The police will always be a partner for the PSSI because we need each other to coordinate and manage football, our people’s favorite sport, to be better,” the PSSI head said.
Meanwhile, the police chief’s Assistant for Operations, Inspector General Agung Setya Imam Effendy, said that his side will jointly discuss several aspects related to safety in football matches with the PSSI and League 1 operator PT Liga Indonesia Baru.
“We will sit together with the PSSI and the league operator. The police will ready new concepts for a better and comfortable league organization for the spectators, the organizers, and the clubs to realize advanced and first-class Indonesian football in the new era,” Effendy added.
