Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Nusantara State Capital Authority (OIKN) is preparing to establish a solar power plant facility or solar farm in Nusantara (IKN) in 2024, OIKN's Green Transformation and Digital Deputy Mohammed Ali Berawi has informed.

"What is certain (is) that next year, we will develop a solar farm," he said during the “Development of Nusantara State Capital as a Resilient, Net Zero City with Circular Economy” online seminar on Friday.

OIKN is preparing to build the solar powerhouse in the IKN 3 region area and it will generate at least 50 MW of power, he added.

Solar roofs will also be installed on buildings constructed by the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry in IKN.

Further, OIKN is exploring partnerships with external parties to build solar roofs in the construction workers’ housing area.

"IKN will be the benchmark in how work and build transformation is done in Indonesia. This is the expectation for the future," Berawi said.

Earlier, a member of Commission VI of the House of Representatives (DPR), Subardi, said the Nusantara state capital construction project marks a new era of construction in Indonesia.

He then invited all parties to support the construction.

The relocation of the state capital from Jakarta to North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan, is intended to achieve balanced development. The IKN is expected to reduce the development gap between regions in Indonesia.

The Future Smart Forest City concept will turn IKN into Indonesia's new symbol as a country that has an abundance of resources, modern urban planning, and is green.

With the state capital relocation, Indonesia will follow in the footsteps of modern countries such as the United States, Russia, Australia, and Turkey.

These countries succeeded in relocating their state capital, thus they have a separate capital city, business center city, and government center city.

The separation of government and business centers has helped make the countries more advanced.
