Jakarta (ANTARA) - Governor of the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) Andi Widjajanto has revealed that the fifth president of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri, gave him several instructions before he took office.

"Before I was inaugurated as the governor of Lemhannas by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on February 21, 2022, I received ideological directives from Mrs. Soekarnoputri that become our ideological commitment at Lemhannas," he said here on Saturday.

He conveyed his statement at an event held to mark the 58th anniversary of Lemhannas. Fifty-eight books were launched at the event.

According to him, the first directive given by Soekarnoputri was to strengthen national values, especially the ideology of Pancasila, whose birth is commemorated on June 1 every year.

The directive will be realized starting May 23, 2023, by conducting a study on Pancasila and how it faces the global challenges.

The second directive, he informed, was to strengthen the character of Lemhannas as a school of geopolitics, while the third was devising a road map for the transformation toward Golden Indonesia 2045.

Widjajanto said the institute is also pursuing five strategic issues, as directed by President Widodo, which include exploring ways to strengthen the consolidation of the Indonesian democracy and supporting the digital transformation, green and blue economy, and the development of the new capital Nusantara.

“We have also designed a (plan) for a new, smart, and green Indonesia that can become a global hub," he added.

At the event on Saturday, Lemhannas launched 58 books to mark the number of years it has been operational—a practice followed every year, which also seeks to remind people that books provide a wider perspective about the world, in addition to adding to insights and knowledge.

The newly launched books provide the latest information about strategic issues that could affect national resilience. Thus, the books are expected to support the country in facing future crises and challenges.

As the founder of Lemhannas, the first Indonesian president Soekarno is also known as the founder of geopolitics in Indonesia.

On Lemhannas’ 58th anniversary, Widjajanto also said that the institution must strengthen its presence as a geopolitical school for national leaders.
