Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Police's anti-terror unit, Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88), arrested two suspected terrorists of the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) and Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) terrorist groups in East Java.

Spokesman of the Indonesian Police Brigadier General Pol. Ahmad Ramadhan stated here on Thursday that the two suspects were arrested separately on Tuesday and Wednesday.

"Densus 88 Antiterror unit arrested two terror suspects who are members of the JI and JAD networks in East Java," he remarked.

The two suspects were identified by their initials as Y, a member of JI, and T, from the JAD group. Both have been named as suspects.

The police are still investigating the possibility of other suspects.

"For details of the case, it is still under investigation for further development," he remarked.

Earlier, on Wednesday, the anti-terror squad searched a house in Dupak, Krembangan Sub-district, in Surabaya, East Java, following the arrest of a suspected terrorist YR.

Densus 88 arrested YR on Tuesday in Kedungkandang, Malang City, East Java.

On March 17, 2023, the squad arrested five suspected terrorists of the JI network in Palu City and Sigi, Central Sulawesi.

Furthermore, on January 20, 2023, three suspected members of the JI terrorist group were arrested in the provinces of Jakarta and Banten.
