"The most important thing is how we can fill in the demographic bonus and convey our views toward Golden Indonesia 2045," said PPI Dunia coordinator Choirul Anam in his remarks at the Alumni Connect event here on Thursday.
There are several Indonesian student alumni forums and associations spread all over the world, he noted.
The large number of these forums would be very beneficial if they collaborated and integrated into one forum where alumni could convey their views and ideas, he added.
He cited many reports stating that Indonesia will be the fourth-largest country in the world by 2050.
One of the efforts that alumni can make to achieve the Golden Indonesia goal is to contribute as much as possible to the development of the nation, he said.
"These ideas must be a major milestone," he said while talking about the importance of ideas among the contributions that can be made to realize the Golden Indonesia vision.
Meanwhile, Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo said he believes the alumni are superior human resources who will one day accelerate the pace of development in the country.
The alumni are young people who will be one of the main players in the nation's history, he added.
"Since the time of independence, young people have played important roles in bringing their vision and mission to various parts of the world," he noted.
Therefore, he lauded the alumni who have returned to Indonesia with the aim of developing the country.
It is hoped that the Indonesian diaspora abroad will contribute through the experiences and networks that they have in other countries, he added.
"So we are still waiting for their concrete contribution," he said.
PPI Dunia noted that currently, there are 55 foreign alumni associations spread across the world, including foreign alumni associations per country and foreign alumni associations per region throughout the world.
PPI Dunia itself has presence across 62 countries around the world.
