We can also start lobbies to all stakeholders during the ASEAN Para Games
Surakarta, Central Java (ANTARA) - Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo stated that his side would take requisite measures to anticipate possible fraud and cheating during the 2023 ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia in June.

"(Learning from the) experiences from the 2023 SEA Games, the ministry will certainly assign and ask our legal officers to be there," Ariotedjo stated here on Monday.

The presence of legal officers from Indonesia will enable the ministry to launch actions if fraud or cheating occurs during the games, the minister explained.

"We can also start lobbies to all stakeholders during the ASEAN Para Games," the minister said.

He noted that despite the Indonesian contingent already having its Chef de Mission (CdM), the ministry officers will also assist the CdM if the need arises.

Moreover, the minister affirmed that bonuses for athletes winning medals during the ASEAN Para Games would be the same as those presented to athletes, who clinched medals at the recently concluded SEA Games.

"There will be no difference, yet the final (bonus) amount is still under consideration. We hope we can present the best for all sports," Ariotedjo stated.

The final bonus amount will be announced by President Joko Widodo, he remarked.

He also highlighted that Indonesia has complete facilities to nurture its para-athletes, thereby ensuring the contingent is ready to compete in the ASEAN Para Games.

"ASEAN Para Games organizers even heavily borrow equipment (for the matches) from Indonesia because Indonesia is fully ready to nurture its para-athletes," Ariotedjo remarked.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian contingent's CdM, Andi Suherman, stated that the contingent comprised 500 people, 286 of whom are athletes, who will be competing in 12 sports branches.

As for the medal tally target, Indonesia is eyeing to clinch 121 gold, 92 silver, and 84 bronze medals and bag the overall champion title, he added.
