Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Executive Board of the Indonesian Cycling Sport Association (PB ISSI) has sent nine of its best cyclists to participate in the Asian Road Cycling Championships in Thailand from June 7 to 13, 2023.

"The lineup of athletes departing for this competition does not change much from the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games, with five men and four women," coach Rudy Dwi Yanuar said in a statement on Tuesday.

The events contested at the Asian Road Championships are the Men U23 Individual Time Trial, Men Junior Individual Time Trial, Men Elite Individual Time Trial, Women Elite Individual Time Trial, and Time Trial Mixed Relay.

The Men Junior Individual Road Race, Men U23 Individual Road Race, Men Elite Individual Road Race, and Women Elite Individual Road Race events will also be held.

"We certainly hope to achieve the best results, both individually and in the team," Yanuar said.

The athletes participating in the championship are Aiman Cahyadi, Odie Purnomo, Muhammad Abdurochman, Dealton Prayogo, Andy Royan, Ayustina Delia Priatna, Dewika Mulya Sofa, Liontin Evangelina, and Magh Firotika Marenda.

Participating in the Asian Road Cycling Championships is one of the trials to prepare for the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

"All of the best Asian road athletes will compete in the event, and it will be a performance parameter for the national road team athletes," said Indonesian Cycling National Team Manager Budi Saputra.

Meanwhile, PB ISSI Chairman Police General Sigit Prabowo, after meeting the SEA Games medal winners at Istana Negara, thanked the Indonesian cycling athletes for their performance in the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games.

"Thank you for fighting for Indonesia and continuing to train diligently for a higher achievement in the upcoming championships, such as the 2023 Asian Games," Prabowo said.
