"The Finance Minister and also Mr. President have informed me that they would like to attend (the great harvest) to directly see the harvests," the minister said when met at the Kebumen BUBK, Central Java, on Tuesday.
He also informed that the great harvest of vanamei shrimp at the Kebumen BUBK will be held around June 24, 2023.
During the harvest, the shrimps will be harvested in the size of 40, which means 40 shrimps per 1 kilogram package. The shrimp size will be larger compared to those harvested in the first and second waves of the partial harvest.
On Tuesday, the minister took part in the second wave of the partial harvest at the Kebumen BUBK.
The Kebumen BUBK is Indonesia's largest shrimp cultivation pond, with its current harvest capacity pegged at 14 tons from a total of 28 pond plots, with the shrimp sized 50, or 50 shrimps per 1 kilogram package, and priced at Rp69 thousand (US$4.6) per package.
After the partial harvest, Vida, an entrepreneur from Cirebon, bought as much as 3 tons of 50-sized shrimp in a truck.
The business actor said that the shrimps will be processed and then exported to the United States.
"So, the shrimp will be processed in a factory in Muara Baru, North Jakarta, before being exported," Vida informed.
According to Vida, the factory is exporting processed shrimp in certain forms based on demand. One of the forms is the peeled tail on (PTO) shrimp product.
In addition to the PTO, the factory has also received requests for shrimp in the form of peeled deveined tail on (PDTO). The PTO and PDTO forms are similar, except the shrimp stomach feces are cleaned out in the latter.
