"(The city legislative council) is proud, grateful and praises the hard work and cooperation that has been carried out by the mayor, deputy mayor, and all related regional governmental apparatus organizations and all stakeholders," Wijaya said here on Wednesday.
He also said he expects more efforts should be expended to ensure that Depok is the best creative city in the world.
"With the support and assistance from the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, the Depok Creative City team can meet all the provisions and parameters that have been determined in the 2023 UCCN guidelines," he said.
Various programs and activities, including training new and women entrepreneurs, have been carried out by the city administration.
The city also offers to assist in the development of start-ups and IT-based government services.
"Hopefully, this achievement can motivate all residents of Depok City to continue to be creative and innovate in various fields, so that the vision of Depok to be an advanced, cultured, and prosperous city can be realized," he said.
Meanwhile, Mayor of Depok Mohammad Idris responded positively to the nomination of Depok City to be listed in the 2023 UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).
On May 26, the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry nominated Depok as a city of media arts in this year's UCCN.
Idris said his side is confident about the nomination of Depok to become UCCN's city of media arts.
"The progress of Depok City since its establishment (April 27, 1999) has been rapid, and it is time for Depok to be confident as a representative from West Java after Bandung City in 2015 became the City of Design," he said.
