This shows that crypto asset enthusiasts have increased extraordinarily
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Commodities Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti) reported that the number of crypto investors in Indonesia had reached 17.25 million in April 2023, an increase of 0.64 percent, from 17.14 million in March 2023.

"This shows that crypto asset enthusiasts have increased extraordinarily," Head of Bappebti Didid Noordiatmoko remarked here on Friday.

A year-on-year (yoy) increase of around 3.52 million people was recorded, or 25.64 percent, from 13.73 million people recorded in April 2022. Despite the significant rise, the growth of crypto investors tends to slow down, he pointed out.

The agency head also drew attention to a recent decline in the value of crypto transactions in Indonesia.

In April 2023, the value of crypto transactions had reached Rp10.77 trillion (US$725.4 million), down by 14.15 percent, from Rp12.54 trillion (US$844.6 million) recorded in the previous month.

In comparison with April 2022, the transaction value had reached Rp36.91 trillion (US$2.4 billion), thereby indicating that the figure had plummeted 70.82 percent yoy.

Despite a downward trend in the transaction value, Noordiatmoko expressed optimism over the development of crypto assets throughout 2023. He projected that crypto assets will rise, albeit slowly in the future.

Noordiatmoko pointed out that when crypto experiences fluctuations, Bappebti tends to keep regulating and improving crypto-related policies, which will serve as the capital when crypto bounces back.

The government and related institutions are striving to create a conducive environment for the growth of the crypto market.

Both Bappebti and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) continue to regulate policies that support and protect investors.

All these factors will help in instilling a greater sense of confidence in investors that crypto assets and markets have a huge and promising potential in Indonesia.

VP Corporate Communication Tokocrypto Rieka Handayani expressed optimism regarding the development of crypto asset investment in the country.

Handayani stated that Indonesians' interest in crypto assets has been increasing in tandem with the wider adoption of various crypto trading platforms.
